In the first big new signing of the offseason, Old Glory has announced that Argentinian international Tito Díaz Bonilla will join the team in 2023. The 33-year-old has extensive experience at the highest levels of rugby, having turned pro with the Jaguares in Super Rugby in 2017. In 2019, he played as a replacement for Finn Russell at Racing 92 in the Top 14 before returning briefly to Super Rugby. In 2020, he joined Leicester Tigers, but quickly moved on to the South African team Sharks of the URC in 2021.

While not the largest flyhalf around at 5'8" and 174 lbs., Díaz Bonilla makes up for it with great passing, shifty running, and precise tactical kicking. His highlight reel is stuffed full of great chip kicks, booming downfield punts, and deceptive runs that get himself and those around him into space.

Díaz Bonilla is a top-tier signing and all but guaranteed to take the starting spot at flyhalf, a position which was unsettled for much of last year. Rohan Saifoloi struggled to make his mark early on, with his style not quite fitting with the needs of the team. He was a good facilitator and a safe pair of hands, but he lacked the explosive potential that the team was missing most of the season and his kicking was not quite there. Mike Dabulas, who also started at 10 a few times last season, provided a much more explosive attacking option, but he hasn't yet developed his skills as a facilitator enough to lead the team. Díaz Bonilla seems like he should be a better balance of both of those things, which hopefully will help Old Glory get off to a hot start in 2023.

This is an excellent signing, as Díaz Bonilla has the potential to be one of the best flyhalfs in the league next year. Good work, Old Glory.
